Shallow Gas Analysis in Skrugard Area, SW Barents Sea
نویسنده
چکیده
In 2011, Skrugard discovery made an explorational breakthrough in the south-western Barents Sea. Earlier this year, Havis discovery (well 7220/7-1) was found in the same area. Both two discoveries are found in the same production license. The double flat spots were found in both Skrugard and Harvis discoveries. However, there are many dry wells in the same area before these two discoveries. The objective of this paper is to figure out why there found commercial hydrocarbon in Skrugard and Havis rather than other areas close to them. Through seismic interpretation, shallow gas was found in the study area, and gas-flow features were divided into three main categories: gas chimney, leakage along faults and leakage along weathering crust. Furthermore, they contribute to a better understanding of the petroleum system in the South-western Barents Sea.

Benthic community structure, diversity, and productivity in the shallow Barents Sea bank (Svalbard Bank)
The Barents Sea is among the most productive areas in the world oceans, and its shallow banks exhibit particularly high rates of primary productivity reaching over 300 g C m-2year-1. Our study focused on the Svalbard Bank, an important feeding area for fishes and whales. In order to investigate how benthic community structure and benthic secondary production vary across environmental gradients ...
متن کاملOne mechanism contributing to co-variability of the Atlantic inflow branches to the Arctic
The two-branched inflow of warm and saline Atlantic Water to the Arctic is the major contributor of oceanic heat to the Arctic climate system. However, while the Atlantic Water entering the Arctic through the Fram Strait retains a large part of its heat as it flows along the Arctic continental slope, the branch flowing through the shallow Barents Sea releases a substantial amount of heat to the...
متن کاملComparison of the biophysical and trophic characteristics of the Bering and Barents Seas
The eastern Bering Sea and the Barents Sea share a number of common biophysical characteristics. For example, both are seasonally ice-covered, high-latitude, shelf seas, dependent on advection for heat and for replenishment of nutrients on their shelves, and with ecosystems dominated by a single species of gadoid fish. At the same time, they differ in important respects. In the Barents Sea, adv...
متن کاملDemersal Fish Assemblages and Spatial Diversity Patterns in the Arctic-Atlantic Transition Zone in the Barents Sea
Direct and indirect effects of global warming are expected to be pronounced and fast in the Arctic, impacting terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems. The Barents Sea is a high latitude shelf Sea and a boundary area between arctic and boreal faunas. These faunas are likely to respond differently to changes in climate. In addition, the Barents Sea is highly impacted by fisheries and other ...
متن کاملThe North Atlantic inflow to the Arctic Ocean: High-resolution model study
North Atlantic Water (NAW) plays a central role in the ocean climate of the Nordic Seas and Arctic Ocean. Whereas the pathways of the NAW in the Nordic Seas are mostly known, those into the Arctic Ocean are yet to be fully understood. To elucidate these routes the results of a high-resolution global coupled ice-ocean model are used. We demonstrate that in 1989 2004 the NAW inflow was equally di...
